TRAGIC POET

Paint a picture write yourself a song
Paint your dream to life and be reborn
A song is what you feel and what you see
Tragic Poet, paint a song for me

We used to sing for peace; we sang for truth
Rebelliousness, the darling of our youth
We sang for peace and love of every man
The changes came but not the ones we planned

Go on, life goes on they say
Straight into another day

It's part of life this constant change
I've seen what it does why can't we stay the same
Times are good and bad sometimes I'm so unsure
I wonder what we're moving toward what are we changing for

My father was a man who knew the times
He'd lived enough to read between the lines
He knew the world and all of its affairs
When I became confused my Dad was there

One day I pushed his precious love aside
I turned from his ideals and then he died
And now that he is lost, my conscience sore
I wonder if he hears me anymore

Go on, life goes on they say
Straight into another day
It's part of life this constant change
I've seen what it does why can't we stay the same

Life is good and bad sometimes I'm so unsure
I wonder what we're moving toward what are we changing for

Hung upon the walls inside my mind
A thousand paintings, every single kind
What a story I could tell my friends
A story dream, I wonder how it ends...
